Just curious how many here wear ankle bracelets, and do you wear it on top of or underneath your pantyhose?
Just curious how many here wear ankle bracelets, and do you wear it on top of or underneath your pantyhose?
I usually will wear an anklet if I'm going out for dinner, or a special event of some sort. I don't usually bother with one for daily tasks and errands. It's a nice little accent to add to your look when you are wearing a beautiful pair of high heels. It's jewelry that's not much different than a beautiful necklace that will draw the eye up to your face. It has the same effect, but in the opposite direction down your legs and along your glistening stockings or pantyhose until your eye hits the shimmering strands of polished metal sitting just above your ankle.
Unlike some girls who wear one full time, my style is to use anklets as an added feature. As such, it needs to be noticed. So, I never wear it under my nylons. Even though I'd be tempted to for security purposes, doing so would rather defeat the purposes of it getting noticed if it was somewhat camouflaged beneath your stockings.
The one thing I never do is wear an anklet when I'm wearing a high heel that has an akle strap. Not only does it look too busy and bit cluttered, but that's when you can end up snapping the anklet if and when it gets caught up around the ankle strap of your shoes. There's just not enough room for both to safely exist together in harmony.
I think that ankle bracelets should be worn over pantyhose, not under.
@D H I agree. I thnk the women who just pull their hosiery over their anklets do so out of laziness or time constraints. Admittedly, if you wear an anklet full time, it can be a bit of a bother to take it off, put your nylons on, and then put it back on carefully. I sometimes need to use tweezers in order to get a proper hold of it while getting it on. But I have long manicured nails that make things a bit challenging sometimes.
@Carrie Stuart When the ankle bracelet is over the pantyhose, it is a strong indication that the pantyhose is staying on.
@D H Well, about the only time my pantyhose would be coming off when I'm out is IF they had somehow received a massive rip that was very noticable. I hate runs in my nylons, especially if I wear black. At least it's a lot easier to take off an anklet, than for me to put this one back on. Maybe I could solicit some help from a skilled volunteer??
I just started.
I think ankle bracelets look very classy and sexy. Like Carrie says it is a nice little accent to add to your look...like a gold necklace or hoop earings which draw your attention to a certain part of the body. I love the look of gold earnings on women and I love the look of a delicate bracelet wrapped around the ankle of a lady with amazing legs....and when they are wearing pantyhose even more amazing! The shine of the metal and the delicate nature of the jewelry adds beauty to the female form.
I do think ankle bracelets look so much better over pantyhose. The shine and reflection is clear and they just drape over the ankle so much better. When under hosiery bracelets don't seem to sit quite right, sometimes getting hung up on the fabric. Also, the clearity of the bracelet is less visible when under the hosiery.
The look and beauty of an ankle bracelet fascinated me and sparked my curiosity just like pantyhose orginally did. I was intrigued by pantyhose at an early age. I wanted to experience what pantyhose felt like, they looked so soft, smooth and silky. Years later I wanted to augment the experience of wearing hosiery and decided to try shaving my legs to enjoy the silky sensation and create that smooth look I enjoyed seeing on women. My curiosity continued, I loved how stiletto heels looked when paired with pantyhose and wanted to experience this as well. I nervously went to a Frederick's of Hollywood, found the heel section and bought my first pair of patent black stilettos. Obviously, it was a bit awkward walking in them the first time but I loved how they looked...so elegant, classy and professional. It was only a few years ago the idea of trying an ankle bracelet caught my attention and once again out of curiosity I decided to give it a try.
I bought a delicate thin gold chain and practiced putting it around my ankle. The clasp was so small it was challenging trying to get it engaged but I finally did. I was excited to try this new item with the rest of my ensemble. I eventually satisfied my curiosity. I prepared my legs, I grabbed a pair of suntan/brown pantyhose and carefully worked them up my legs and around my waist, I slipped my feet into a pair of black stilettos. Finally, I was ready to add the delicate bracelet to my ankle. It was so thin and small. It took a bit of struggle but I finally was able to get it hooked. Wow, I loved the new addition! As I brought my feet to the ground the chain rested around my ankle. I admired the new look and enjoyed the gentle touch of the bracelet which I could feel as it slid over my lower leg.
It is interesting but I wouldn't shave my legs, slip into a pair of heels and wear an ankle bracelet if I wasn't wearing pantyhose. I just like how certain items help dress up the look of hosiery. From the waist down I definitely take on a feminine look. It does look strange when looking in the mirror and your top half is male and bottom half female but hey, that is where my curiosity has brought me. Also, I don't wear all the time but it is fun and thrilling on occasion!
Absolutely stunning !!!
You do look quite delicious in your outfit doll 😍
@SheerMark your explanation of ankle bracelet OVER pantyhose is bang on!
Beautiful legs all around, thanks for sharing!
Better late than never. This was a couple years or so ago. Just lounging around the house. These are Falke Lunelle 8 in Sun, my absolute favorite pantyhose (which is amazing to declare with how much hosiery I love). The anklet is under the hose, and I don't wear it or toe rings really at all. This was just for fun,
Looking Good! Nice legs in some sexy pantyhose!
Does anyone wear ankle bracelets on both ankles or maybe multiple bracelets on one ankle?
@SheerMark Nope. I think it looks redundant on both ankles. Symetry is so boring and matchy matchy. And multiple on one??? What's the point? One draws attention to that area in a less blatant manner. More than one is like shouting "hey look here!" It's a bit gauche in my way of thinking.
Carrie you always seem to have an interesting and firm opinion when it comes to fashion. I see what you are saying and probably would have to agree. I think most of the time I have seen an ankle bracelet it has been on one ankle and usually just one. I think it is a sexy look and being a leg man, I am always drawn to a sexy pair of legs. A delicate ankle bracelet resting over a pair of pantyhose that gives off a nice sparkle when the light hits it, definitely gets my attention and looks fantastic.
I am not really much of a jewelry type of guy, never have really worn it. I think a simple gold necklace looks nice and basic gold hoop earrings look very attractive although I don't have pierced ears. When I finally decided to see what it was like to wear an ankle bracelet which really wasn't too long ago, I ordered a basic single thin chain, probably because that is what I had been most familiar with seeing. Feminine looking, obviously, but a nice addition when paired with pantyhose and stilettos.
I guess I was just thinking about what else can or should be done with ankle bracelets. Some ankle bracelets have double layers and one vendor site said two thin chains on one ankle is fine. Most of them said wearing bracelets on both ankles is acceptable but two vendors also said they should be worn with direct contact on the skin, underneath pantyhose. This obviously seems like a great way to snag hosiery and ruin your pair. A couple other sites contradicted them and said wear over the hosiery which personally, I think looks best.
For those who wear, is the gauge (thickness) of the ankle bracelet something that you consider? Like I said earlier, I do enjoy the thin/delicate chain I originally bought but it might be fun trying something thicker. Is too thick, too much? Also, does the color of hosiery matter when wearing a bracelet? Personally, my favorite colors of pantyhose are suntans/ dark tans. I think gold bracelets look best when worn with these colors but what about with jet black hosiery? I'm not sure I've seen ankle bracelets paired with black pantyhose either because they don't look good together or maybe the colors don't blend well. Just curious.
Hi Mark
I am more often wearing tan or a darker nude shade of hosiery than I wear black, but I DO wear my anklet with black sheer pantyhose and stockings on occasion. I'm actually OK with the higher visibility and the contrast of the anklet against a sheer black background. I find it especially works well when there's a gloss or shine in the hosiery, as opposed to a matte pair. Glossy black adds to the sparkle, overall, on the effect the anklet has.
As I stated in an earlier post, I typically don't wear my anklet for daily tasks or some other pedestrian reason. It's done when I feel like adding a little pizzaz (is that still a word used in modern speak?) to my leg look. It's a special occasion or something a little bit different when I wear black hosiery. They're not an everyday look for me.
Also, as previously mentioned, I only wear it on the outside of my nylons, never under, for similar reasons that you cite. When it's worn, it's supposed to get noticed, or be noticeable easily. So, I don't even understand why certain people advocate for wearing it underneath your hosiery.
I'd like to have a thicker or more robust chain, as well, but since it's something I only very occasionally wear, I feel it would be a lot of $$ to lay out for something I would rarely wear. That's the same rationale I employ when pondering the notion to splash out a $1000 for a pair of designer heels at full price. I just can't do it. All of my designer brand stilettos were purchased when at least 50% off on sale. Those include my red Jimmy Choo and a pair classic black stiletto pump YSLs. Gorgeous heels, but definitely not daily drivers, much like an anklet for me. I'm not much of a bling girl, anyway. I find rings and things on my fingers or around my wrists to be bothersome. Acrylic gel nails are enough of a hinderance. I tolerate them only because they look so much better than short nails, and are much stronger and durable than my natural nails.
I managed to dig up a photo where I'm in black pantyhose and wearing my anklet. It was shot in a hair salon on my last birthday. I was dressed for the occasion only because I was going straight to dinner afterward and time wouldn't permit a trip back home before our reservations to change outfits or retouch my make up.
Wow Carrie, the ankle bracelet actually looks great combined with your black hosiery. I do like your suggestion of wearing pantyhose with a bit of sheen to accent the bracelet. Jet black is one of my favorite colors along with suntan/dark tan. Funny, but I'm very particular about my hosiery color. I only like a narrow range of colors and no patterns or designs. I guess it is true with women's shoes as well, patent black stilettos with a 3-4" heel height is my favorite. Not a fan of open toe or slingbacks but a classic pointy toe looks fantastic to me. I'm definitely going to have to try the ankle bracelet over a pair of glossy black pantyhose once I prepare my legs this fall...looks fun!
I know you stated more than one ankle bracelet is overkill but what do you think about bracelets that have two layers (two chains and one clasp). Does this style also seem unappealing to you? Or if two very thin ankle bracelets are worn together on one ankle, does this seem redundant as well?
