Does anybody else think that these new Trasparenze IRIS 20s are going to compete with CdR Eterno 20 Super Lucido pantyhose? They offer seemingly identical properties and compete for price at $20 a pair.

Ah yes, they are very much alike, Carrie. However, the Trasparenze Iris claims to have flat seams, yet in some photos of them, that appears not to be the case. I'm referring to the seam from waist to gusset.
Nevertheless, I think I'll try a pair. I guess that, for you, Carrie, these pantyhose might be too shiny for your liking. What do you think?

Yup, you're quite correct, Janine. Hosiery that is that shiny isn't usually on my radar at all. Though, in recent months, I've come to appreciate satin finishes more than the typical matte variety most of my personal collection is comprised of. Being the social introvert that I am, I just don't want the attention a pair of shiny, fit, legs will attract. As it is, simply wearing a short skirt and high heels draws more than plenty of interest, since most women around here aren't often seen wearing either. Add a pair of glossy hosiery and you'll be stopping traffic!
I think my choices are often seasonal, too. In the summer months, I usually try to wear something very sheer in a shade that looks like the tan I would want for my legs. Since my arms are often decently tanned, it's nice to have ones legs looking like a smoother more uniform version of the same colour. The objective is for a stealthy outcome. A high gloss or shine would undermine that plan. In the winter or fall, though, it's more acceptable to be seen wearing hosiery, but in warm summer months most women will break out in a sweat just seeing another woman wearing a pair!
Flat seams are definitely more comfortable than the old standard round ones that will leave ones stomach with a strong vertical line at the end of the day. But the inclusion of flat seams isn't usually a huge factor for me, either way. It's well down on my criteria list. Nice to have, but not a total deal breaker.
In terms of shiny hosiery, I have 2 such kinds in my collection to select from when the moment moves me. One is a Trasparenze product. And I quite like them. I have them in both Fango and Nero. Brigitte 20 is the style name. About the only thing I could ask for more would be a lower denier model. If they were available in 10 denier, I might even wear them in summer, when I want to make a statement with my legs. 20 is a bit too heavy once temperatures get north of 20*C. They definitely get noticed, in both Fango and Nero colours, but especially in Fango as evidenced by several comments one evening at the local pub I'm fairly regular at.
The other shiny pair I have are by Omero. They are the Luxor 20. Again, another 20 denier pair for when the weather cools off. I have them in Puder. The shine is different than how Trasparenze goes about it. Omero makes theirs a little more bold and doesn't look as smooth as Trasparenze when up close. Same cost for both but I prefer Trasparenze.
Trasparenze is a brand I like, anyway. I wear quite a few of their products...everything from 3-4 different pantyhose styles to 2 different gartered stockings and 2 different stay up stocking styles. You could say I'm a fan. So when I received the email about Trasparenze Iris being a new product being sold by Shapings, I had to go check them out just to understand what they are all about. But I don't think I'm a natural customer for that style of hosiery. But I'd be curious to read comparisons between CdR Super Eterno wearers who try these new Trasparenze ones out.
