Pantyhose recommendation

  • Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for a specific style of pantyhose. Looking for a pair that really glides nicely between the legs. I recently purchased Oroblu Pearl 15 and while I liked the finish I really didn't like how they felt "rough/scratchy" and not "slippery" (does that make sense?), and would love to know what to look for next time to get it right.

I've been a long time fan of CdR Vidrio 15s, so looking for something similar but a step up in terms of quality (I've found that sometimes they come with blemishes out of the box). I also really loved Pierre Mantoux Flou 15 - they feel absolutely incredible but unfortunately they've been discontinued and their sizing is on the smaller side.

Overall, here's what I'm looking for:

    • Sheer to waist, with t-band
    • No back panel in L/XL sizes
    • 10-15 denier
    • Reinforced toes (not a dealbreaker)
    • Cotton gusset
    • Fully boarded
    • Not overly glossy

    Thanks!

  • I love CdR Eterno as well as Platino Cleancut, both affordable and very smooth to the touch, especially hose on hose, with a nice gloss.  These are Eterno Super Lucido 20 den in color Dore. CdR Sevilla also very smooth with less shine.

  • Hi @Jona Apple - thanks so much! They look lovely on your legs. I've tried both and enjoyed wearing them - though I wasn't a huge fan of the "oily" effect and felt they were a bit too glossy for me. That said I didn't try them in a nude color so maybe I'll revisit that :) I've also tried Sevilla but I recall it feeling a bit rough - they weren't my favorite tbh.

I'm kind of curious about these pairs, wondering if you or anyone else has tried them?

    CdR Free 15
    Ibici Cleo 15
    Ibici Aquamarina 15

  • @Sara I've not tried CdR Free 15, but I like my Seville Chic 15 for a special occasion.  They have a fairly bold  back seam as a sexy detail in them but they are pretty glossy looking.  Never really noticed them feeling rough or having a texture to them when you run your hands up your legs.  The same goes for Vidrio, which I also like, but only on occasion when I don't mind the attention my legs will receive due to the shine.  Vidrio are super smooth and feel sleek to the touch when on.  But neither are what I'd choose to wear everyday as I'm not a huge fan overly shiny legs, and both produce a quite noticeable shine.

I also wear Ibici Cleo 15 and Ibici Aquamarina 15.  Of the 2, Aquamarina are much better.  Both offer what I'd call a nice healthy sheen, but they are not shiny in that sense of the word...but neither are they matte.  I believe there's a reinforced style of panty built into the Cleo 15, so that might be a deal breaker for you if you're after sheer to the waist.  But the Aquamarina won't disappoint in that regard.  Can't say whether or not they have a back panel in the larger sizes as I usually take a size 2 or 3 in most pantyhose and never really think about larger sizes or if they are designed differently.  You'd need to look up the description of them.  That probably feels weird...having 2 seams running up both cheeks.  I've never experienced that but I've heard women complain about it, especially when they're wearing something tight.

  • Hi @Carrie Stuart - thanks for the thoughtful reply! Yes I always try to avoid any pairs with a back panel like the plague 😄. They just aren't very flattering to me and I've learned my lesson to really pay attention to the descriptions, which Shapings has made it easy to do.

I remember now about my experience with Sevilla - they just looked very strange before putting them on, but once they were on I had no complaints. That is really what matters at the end of the day, though I think between Sevilla and Vidrio I would 100% go with Vidrio. I also agree with you regarding their shine - that level of glossiness is probably the most I would entertain when purchasing a new pair.

I guess what I'm after is a pair that looks and feels like Vidrio, but is a little less glossy and blemish-free out of the box. I recently bought Oroblu Club 15 and felt like they came close but ultimately lacked the silky feeling that Vidrio has.

Thanks Carrie - sounds like I might give the Aquamarina a try! Also, not sure if it'll fit my current criteria but I'm curious about your experience with those Oroblu Sensuel 20s?

  • @Sara I love Oroblu Sensuel 20.  The ones in the photo are a re-purchase.  I've worn them for several years and always come back to them when I want something that feels luxious and looks great on my legs.  It ticks the box for reinforced toes, which I always prefer because of all the pointed toe stilettos I'm constantly wearing, and for being sheer to waist.  They offer a make-up type of effect on the leg...not shiny but not matte either.  In my size, they seem to fit just great.  Some pantyhose give me that feeling more than others.  The Sensuel 20 is one that just feels right on my body.  I've also purchased the Club 15 for something a little more sheer, but I can't remember what my experience was like other than they were probably ok...nothing negative to report.

The thing about Vidrio that is a little off putting is that they seem to wear thin in places, after a couple of wearings.  It's like the top layer of spandex separates from the rest of the fabric.  You won't really notice it visually in lighter shades while wearing, but when you wash them and hang to dry, you'll notice what I'm talking about.  They don't run as a result, immediately, but it gives me the impression that it won't be long before they do given how much thinner and more transparent the fabric looks compared to other parts of the leg.  In black, it will show up as inconsistent colour or areas of blotches while wearing them.  It's a strange thing, but I've seen that happen to other brands/styles, too, in the past.  I just can't remember at the moment what others have done that after only a wearing or 2.  Vidrio lists a back panel in the 2 largest sizes, BTW.

Most of the brands that I wear apparently do.  I was going to recommend Ibici Voile 15 as a pair that I like, but they, too, have a back panel in the largest size(s).  In the photo, there are 3 different styles from Ibici that I like.  Classic 15 and Aquamarina are the best 2 of the 3.  Cleo are fine but not as nice as the other 2.  I forgot to mention that the Classic 15 are 100% nylon.  They're like classic nylon stockings.  So, there's no stretch at all in the fabric.  Not for everyone, but those who love classic stockings and their near weightless feel on the leg, these are a nice treat in pantyhose.  No garter belt required.
