@SheerMark When I grew up, the wearing of pantyhose by women and girls was ubiquitous. Of course, my mom was the first person I probably noticed as I was growing up who was wearing those intiriguing shiny smooth things on her legs all the time! In grade school, all my teachers wore pantyhose whenever they were in a dress or skirt teaching the class. They also wore high heels with their outfits, slingback were popular, as I remember. That only lasted for part of morning and again right after the lunch break, until most switched to a pair of well worn flats. I noticed the combination of high heels with sheer nylons and skirts and dresses, and wanted to dress like that too. I was always told I would be allowed when I was older, but my mom never specified an exact age.
As a kid, I stuck to having to wear knee socks or those thick tights, especially on colder days and throughout the winter. I yearned for the day I would be able to wear those mysterious shiny nylons that women and the older girls got to wear.
There was no particular person, event or situation that tweaked my interest...just that I wanted to grow up, or be "older" so I could look like the older girls who were already wearing them on their legs. I just liked the look and wondered how it felt to be treated as someone more grown up. I got my first pair (3 actually) when I was 11 years old right before Xmas. My mom stipulated I could only wear them for special occasions, like the Xmas school concert I was in later that week, or birthday parties, church and such. They were not to be worn to school everyday with my tunic despite how much I begged and protested. That didn't happen for another 2 years, once I was attending high school.
When I was in grade 11, I had a girlfriend who was in grade 10 and taking a program called cosmetology. It was all about learning how to do professional make up, skin care, and hair styling, cutting etc. She always looked beautiful and stood out from most of the other girls in school. As I got to know her more, she told me her mom was a model. As it turned out, she walked runways and did photo shoots for a major department store in Canada called EATONS. She even showed me photos of her mom in the catalogue. Her mom modeled everything from shoes to fancy dresses, long dress winter coats, lingerie and hosiery. She did it all. Deena almost always wore skirts to high school and always with pantyhose. She looked very grown up and sophisticated. I think her looks might have cemented how impactful make up, hair and really nice clothes, shoes and nylons was in how one was perceived by the rest of the world. That lesson was not lost on me, and likely influenced a lot of how I navigated the world from then on.
Nice sheer hosiery and beautiful shoes and smart looking skirts and dresses have always been a staple in my wardrobe. I was once told that it's always better to be a little over dressed for any occasion than to ever be underdressed for one.

Sorry as a male tights/pantyhose wearer i really cant answer what got me into wearing them all i can think back to is when i was at school the girls wearing sheer tights really got me exighted and from then i got some from a shop when i was around 15 years old to wear and wow that was amaizing but i had to hide my feelings.
It has taken so long but it is great that i can buy diffrent brands of pantyhose to try from the internet and now my wife lets me wear them quite a lot but not in public vut i dont think i could anyway due to the stigma from people.
I wish i could wear outside but only when its dark early morning and late nights with shorts but at least its something.
I just love the silky feelings and the slide while crossing my legs together but even better when my wife crosses her silky legs over mine .
I would hate to be judged and make my wife feel embarressed so i keep it on the down low and jut have to be happy were i am but its a bit annoying to be fair

sj- I totally understand the "stigma" you feel MIGHT occur. But, I have to chime in here and say that it is completely in your own mind. Seriously, it is. I travel all over the US, and wear with shorts. I dont wear anything else considered for women. Just normal male clothing with hose. I have been 'spotted' a few times, with each of those times being nothing but positive. 99.99% of the time no one even notices. And I will add that I prefer tan colors that are glossy like CDR Eterno 9 or 10 or 20, Noosh, and some from ALI or Temu. So if anyone does actually pay attention, it can be noticed. The IF is the big part of that. Since I am just being myself, there is nothing that stands out to attract the attention of others. I seem to be quite invisible. The times that it was noticed was in very close quarters and for longer than just in passing.
The last person to notice was an older lady that was sitting down with me standing about 4 ft in front of her. So my waist down was pretty much right in her face, she asked "can I ask you a question? Not to be too personal or anything, but how old are you?" I said "58". She replied back with " Wow, you really do have nice legs". I just said "thanks, Must be due to all the walking I do". I do not remember what hose I had on, but they were not particularly shiny anyway. So she probably didnt even notice the hose themselves. Just the even color and shape of my legs.
I also understand the sife not being crazy about it. Might I suggest you ask to do an experment some time. Ask her if she would let you wear a pair of whatever favorite tan color you have, and just follow behind you while walking in a store somewhere. Anywhere. Doesnt matter. Let her see if ANYONE even bats an eye. This way, you can both avoid the alleged "embarrassment" of being next to a"guy in pantyhose" and see for herself that nobody even cares. It was difficult for me the first time, but once I saw that nobody gives a poo, it was all the time from then on.

I remember being very young and playing at my neighbor"s house. There was a children's book with cartoon characters that I was looking through. One of the pages showed a girl. She was wearing hosiery and for some reason I was really fascinated with her clothing. Not sure if it had an impact on me but I was definitely curious with her legwear.
Pantyhouse were very common when I was younger and being male something I could only fantasize about. Some males had sisters or mothers who gave them an opportunity to wear pantyhose, most didn't. I don't recall a particular event but pantyhose commercials were common on TV. I never wanted to show too much interest but every time a commercial came on, it was exciting to watch. One campaign even said "Gentlemen prefer Hanes". In my mind, it almost came across as men prefer wearing Hanes pantyhose to others. Almost a kind of acceptance.
Packaging for pantyhose was also very exciting. L'eggs pantyhose were so common in stores. Their marketing campaign was clever. Walking by the display, seeing all the different colors of egg packages was intriguing as were the photos above the display showing pretty women in sexy poses wearing hosiery. If only I had the courage to select and buy my own. Even today, a sexy package showcasing a pretty female wearing pantyhose gets my attention, to the point where I have purchased so many pairs.
The real joy was seeing women on TV wearing pantyhose. Three's Company always showcased the actresses in pantyhose. They wore suntan pantyhose around the house, going to work, and even to sleep. Daisy Duke from the Dukes of Hazard was always wearing pantyhose with her short shorts. Her long legs looked sexy in her suntan hose. Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman looked absolutely amazing when she would transform into her alter ego. She had beautiful long legs that were on display from the tops of her boots to almost her waist. Watching her change from ordinary clothes into her outfit was mesmerizing. Suddenly her beautiful long legs in suntan hosiery were on display. It was as if she was energized when she was in her costume and watching her legs in pantyhose was exciting. I have always found her costume sexy and even though it is a little silly, I even bought myself my own costume to see what it is like to wear it myself! Mary Hart who used to be on Entertainment Tonight always looked incredible in her suntan pantyhose. She even had her legs insured for one million dollars back in the day. Elvira looked sexy in her black pantyhose and black stiletto heels lying on her couch during her show. And all the aerobics women back in the 80's. I read some women would wear two pairs of pantyhose with their leotards when working out but wow, such a wonderful look and something that really sparked my interest to try myself.
So, there have been plenty of influences over the years. Definitely they have made me curious about wearing hosiery. It would have been nice to have been younger and able to wear pantyhose without any inhibitions. But now, I have a more courage and can finally satisfy my curiosity by choosing all brands of pantyhose.
