Word has it through the industry grapevine, you better load up before Wolford is no more. But you did not hear it from me.

@Robert Safko recived induvidual 10 today and they feel really really nice but really matt and even the pure 10 are the same a chauky matt which do not look natural at all.i prefer a nice silky soft texture with a natural look.
Going back to kunert mystique 5 and 20 they have everything i love.
Pic of individual 10 for reference

@Robert Safko Honestly, if they disappear from the landscape, I'll never miss them. So over hearing nothing but hype from all the fan girls and influencers on social media about Wolfords this, Wolfords that. Hype is a huge NO for me when looking for a good product. Besides, who in their right mind would think that a Wolford habit would be sustainable in the long run? !! Like, do you earn in the top 5% or what? As far as I'm concerned, they've always been way over priced, and often look more opaque than I prefer. For that kind of money, my legs need to look like a Rolls Royce, and not some dull weather worn version of that.
I'll stick with Spanish and Italian brands for what I love in my hosiery.
Wolford always seemed to come up regarding best pantyhose on the market when I started to learn more about different brands of pantyhose. Obviously, it has always been a little difficult being a male and wanting to acquire pantyhose but I decided that when I became bolder I had to try out Wolford among others to see what other brands had to offer.
Wolford seems to be located in upscale areas for obvious reasons. I made the decision to find a boutique and go buy some for myself. I was very nervous my first time (actually all times) going into a Wolford Boutique. I'm a male going into a shop that is strictly for women. I figured they would assume I was buying for a female. Even though I was scared, I wanted to be upfront that I was buying for myself. Pacing outside the store, making sure the sales rep was someone who looked inviting, and making sure there weren't too many people inside made for my opportunity to enter. Grabbing their unique door which is basically a sexy leg from thigh to foot led me into the store. Boy, was I nervous...here I am entering a female store feeling very vulnerable. At a place like this, they give you service right away. I tried to keep my calm and tell the saleswoman I was interested in shopping for pantyhose. She took me to the section and started showing me different styles. I didn't tell her right away I was shopping for myself but she finally figured they were for me. I finally left the store after picking a few items with my first Wolford pantyhose.
I visited again at a later time as well as going to other locations. I tried Satin Touch 20, Neon 40's, a style called Magic Touch and a few others. One time I decided to wear a pair of suntan pantyhose while shopping for pantyhose at a Wolford Boutique. I wore shorts and sneakers and knew they would know I was buying for myself just by seeing the way I was dressed. Buying pantyhose for myself was one thing, walking into the store wearing pantyhose and shopping for pantyhose was another level that I could never imagine. But here I was walking through a shopping mall, self-conscious of the way I looked, and once again nervously entering the boutique. It was so odd, here I am wearing typical male clothes but with smooth, shaved legs covered in pantyhose talking to women about buying pantyhose. The sales reps were helpful and accommodating, in fact I have always had great help when shopping at their stores. That is one thing I will say about going to a Wolford Boutique, their service has been great. They will help and give you samples to see how you like the different styles and textures. And being male, they have always treated me like any other customer.
I haven't been to a Wolford Boutique in a while. I do like their pantyhose and have enjoyed their look and feel. They have a color called Gobi which is fine but I wish they had a color that was a little browner. I do agree with Carrie that they are pricey. I feel they are almost intended for someone with plenty of disposable cash...the wealthy crowd. I also came to the conclusion that there are plenty of other brands out there that are just as good for a much lower price, especially the Spanish and Italian brands Carrie mentions. One thing I do notice in pantyhose is when the weave is nice and even. If I see clumping or imperfections it turns me off. Call me a perfectionist but I definitely love the look of sexy legs in pantyhose when the color and texture is even, absent of imperfections.
Interesting to see what happens to Wolford since it is one of the most recognizable names in luxury hosiery.
@Carrie Stuart I completely agree. Seems like an unpopular opinion but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who doesn't get the Wolford hype. I managed to get a pair of Neon 40 in black and Satin Touch 20 in grey for much cheaper on Vinted and they were not at all what I expected. I will admit, the fit is incredible and they're obviously well made but the look and feel was so underwhelming. Having seen pics and vids featuring woldfords for years, I was fully expecting them to be the holy grail of hose but I didn't find them to be silky or smooth at all. As you say, the Italian and Spanish brands have nailed it. I don't think anything will beat CdR Eterno SL 10 for me
Still waiting on the CdR new product that @Robert Safko hinted at in a podcast so maybe they'll get dethroned eventually 🤞
@ShinyPHLover If you love the SL 10's, you are going to love these new ones that CdR is working on. They sent me a sample and we are just in discussion about the waistband design. They will be a 10den.
Robert
@Robert Safko Hope we get 'em in time for next summer's hot season. I usually only wear 8-10 den when it's that warm.
@ShinyPHLover From what I've read recently about the financial picture for Wolford and their Chinese owners, they've been incurring substantial losses for the past 2 years. They are trying to restructure now but who knows how that is going to pan out, nor whether or not they'll still have a market for whatever their new face is, let alone how long their creditors will allow them to breathe.
Luxe brands don't usually die as often or as quickly as more affordable brands, but sometimes when they are acquired by some larger entity, their product completely changes and what's left is just the brand iname itself, but has no semblance of their former product quality or identity. I'm staying tuned, though I have no dogs in the race other than a desire to hear the Wolford hype on social media just go away.
To be fair I think Wolford pantyhose are very comforatable to wear. I also like that their darker colors are usually very even. but they tend to be matte instead of glossy, which many folks here may not like 😀
Wolford suffered a 30% drop in revenue for 2024 and also for the 1st quarter of 2025. The high end luxury brand for hosiery and exclusive designer garments is probably reflecting a buying trend as the whole Western economic hemisphere endures a recession... something most governments aren't willing to admit. Wolford is also going through an internal restructuring to optimize processes and reduce overhead, which caused delivery delays of inventory.
But I think there's other challenges afoot. Wolford does not do all of its product production in-house. It is outsourced to a few different countries. When an exclusive brand does that, they open up themselves to duplication. Also, with textile fiber improvements and superior seam construction techniques becoming more mainstream, Wolford has a toughter time demonstrating its exclusivity.
I recently took advantage of a sale to buy a few items from Wolford. And i was rather shocked to find that one of them didn't come in a classic Wolford box, or even cardboard fold-over. It came in a clear plastic bag! How could I possibly gift this to someone? Wolford says it's on a "sustainability" trend now, cutting back on "packaging waste." OK, fine. Do that for the higher volume items. But for something with an original retail price notably over $100 USD, it should come in a box. That's part of the experience. The packaging. Well, I exercised their return policy and sent it back. Conversely, the other item was nicely boxed, with Wolford branded tissue paper and proper internal cardboard supports for the garment. It was an older discontinued style... which made it even more clear on the unsavory change.
Wolford used to have a keen edge over other hosiery makers. It doesn't feel like that any longer. I've long admired the brand for their prestigious reputation. I did not realize that Chinese interests bought out that famed Austrian company. Wow... I don't have high hopes that his brand will stay true to its heritage, or at least manage to keep lasting.
@Tom Woo Wolford does have some styles that come in finishes that aren't matte. The "satin de luxe" for example has a nice sheen to it. Also, the Neon 40 also has a semi-glossy look to it. But you're right in that most of their other styles are rather matte. I would've thought that "Satin Touch" would have at least a semi-glossy appearance, but it's also in a matte finish similar to the Velvet de Luxe line. I've also seen reviews slamming it for durability.
@Robert Safko what will be the lycra content and are they mat. I prefere high lycra as the just fit so snug and prefere a matt or silky pantyhose not a shiny lover myself.
@Gary K Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot that when I wrote the post. In fact I own three pairs of Neon 40s myself 😅 The problem with Wolford is the high price and competitors are catching up. My favorite brand now is CdR.
@Tom Woo You're welcome. I have my first pair of Neon 40's coming my way. Looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about. 😏
Which styles by CdR do you enjoy the most? I really like the Uppsala, for the amazing material and nice fit (5-XL works for me quite well). Eterno Super Lucido 20 in 5-XL fits me really well too. I'm just not sure about some of their other styles, where a maxi panel gets introduced (can't stand them).
@Gary K I like all the Eternos except Eterno 20, which is a little too opaque to my liking. Back panel is a big no for me as well!
I'm sad to read here about Wolford's troubles. My first high quality tights was a pair of Wolford Individual 10, shade Nearly Black, bought in the mid 1990's. Having been accustomed to buying cheap tights before then, the Individual 10 absolutely blew my mind in every way! In fact, they brought about my obsession for hosiery!
I've noticed that UK Tights appears to be running down their stocks of Wolford.
@Janine J the pure 10s are a bit softer which i prefere but really pricy. The aristoc ultimates 10 denier are quite similer in texture at a quarter of the price.
@s j Oh, thank you very much for the information, SJ. The Individual 10 (and 20) appear to have a unique knit which is apparent when examined closely, and a highly elastic feel. I adore them.
I think I have a pair of Aristoc Ultimates - as yet unworn - in my drawers.
